Progress 2007
Question: How can you have too much progress?

Answer:  When you make a page too large which makes it difficult for dial up users to download.

Solution: Three web pages.  For progress before and during 2005  click here.  For progress before and during 2006   click here.  Use your back button to return.

February 22, 2007. Grand Lake area State Representative Dou Cox, M.D. and House Speaker Lance Cargill proudly displaying posters promoting the soon-to-open jet capable South Grand Lake Airport.  You to can have an 18 x 24 poster.  Go back to SERVICES and click on Fun Stuff.

March 13, 2007.  Mother Nature dealt a harsh blow this winter to construction continuing.  The exposed ramp and taxi lane dirt was saturated with rain and snow making it impossible to work and the ice storm took down many miles of power lines the airport construction crew is now rebuilding. Construction will resume soon.

April 15, 2007    Our "Mile of Runway to Anywhere" has reached another milestone, the runway is now marked.  As soon as we receive clearance from the FAA we will open the runway with the caveat there is limited parking until the rule/parking ramp is completed.  As you can see in the aerial, work is in progress for the ramp, taxi ways and extension of the parallel taxi way.

We are working on a grass parking area on the south end of the runway as a temporary solution.  The trailer at the end of the runway has been removed since the picture.

Send us your email address and we will notify you when the runway is open.

If you have an interest in a hangar lot, now is the time to check out the details as half o f the lots are spoken for.

May 13, 2007 Name Change

FAA Approved adding the word Regional to the airport name.  The new name is South Grand Lake Regional Airport.

May 14, Runway is now open

Until the Fuel/Parking Ramp and the grass tie down area at the very South End of the runway are completed, use of the runway is limited to dropping off and picking up passengers, or landing and taking off.

The grass tie down area on the very south end of the runway between the runway and the entry road will be completed soon.

The drawing reflects information as of April 16, 2007.  Watch for changes as the only thing constant at the South Grand Lake Region Airport is change.

Send us your email address and we will notify you as the various improvements are completed.

If you have an interest in a hangar lot, now is the time to check out the details as over half of the lots are spoken for.  Contact Brent Howard, 918-782-9026  or 918-693-1855.

May 24, 2007  A New Mast at the Lake

A new white mast topped with an orange wind cone is now flying at the airport.

The runway is open but until further notice the runway is for drop off and pick up of passengers, or just quick land and take off.

Since the Airport Facility Director will not be updated until July 5th we ask that you read the information listed below.

HAZZARD: Construction in progress, exercise great caution. Look for men and equipment at work prior to landing.

AIRPORT IDENTIFIER:  1 K 8

CTAF:  122.9

RUNWAYS: 18 & 36

TRAFFIC PATTERN: Both are left hand. WEIGHT BEARING CAPACITY:  All of the completed; runway, cross taxi, and parallel taxi tested 30,000 # SW, and 60,000 # DW.

WIND CONE: Located near the South end of the parallel taxi.

RUNWAY  LIGHTS: None as of this date.

TIE DOWNS: We are currently developing Aircraft tie downs in the grass on the extreme South end of the runway.  As soon as the tie downs are ready we will publish a NOTAM and send an email. Access to the tie down area will be through the south end of the blast pad. The blast pads are full weight bearing and markings will be changed to taxi lane.

PASSENGER DROP OFF & PICK UP: We suggest the South end of the runway as it has a 80’ x 80’ turn around and is near the entrance to the airport..

ENTRANCE GATE COMBINATION:  1200

Please keep gate locked.

VEHICLES: Due to construction, leaving vehicles at the airport is currently a problem. We are working on a solution so contact us if you have this need now, or anticipate in the future.
