August 25, 2006:  Finalizing The  Runway Base

They say the difference between men and boys is the size of their toys.  Well I am here to tell you the size of the toys building the new runway are humongous.  Dirt Haulers that will hold an Excursion, Dozers as tall as your house, Water Trucks that will fill a small pond, and a Huge Rototiller that will grind anything from concrete to fly ash 12" in to the ground in an  8' path.  The runway base will be complete in a week or so, ready for rock and then asphalt.  Some of the following pictures show mixing fly ash in the soil.  Fly ash is a by product of burning coal and when mixed into the ground it increases the strength of the soil 6 times for stronger weight support
